Research Interests:

Dr. Bigelow’s research interests are in service systems, performance measurement, outcome measurement, program evaluation, community mental health programming, alcohol and drug programming, American Indian issues, and, recently, brain imaging. He has collaborated with Drs. McFarland, Walker, Wilson, Kinzie, Boehnlein, and Passmore on a number of grant funded projects in these areas.

His teaching interests are in public psychiatry training (community mental health history and theory) and in mentoring beginning clinical researchers. He has served, on behalf of the Department, on the OHSU Institutional Review Board (IRB) and is the chairman of the Faculty Senate Research Committee. He provides community service on planning and steering committees, which is also where some of his service system research opportunities exist.
