Clinical and Teaching Experience:
Alcohol rehabilitation: Dr. Allison has extensive experience counseling
veterans battling alcohol and drug abuse. He participated in the program development
of the Homeless Veterans Rehabilitation Service-Domiciliary in Vancouver, Washington,
has been team leader and research/evaluation coordinator for clinicians working with
homeless veterans at the domiciliary, and also initiated a group therapy program, "Next
Step Walk-In," for outpatient veterans. Recently, he has transferred from Vancouver to
the Portland VA Mental Health Outpatient Clinic where he primarily counsels families
and couples.
Teaching: Dr. Allison teaches a course in clinical medicine to OHSU medical
students, serves as psychology intern preceptor, supervises masters level students,
and provides workshops for professionals.
