Become a PROH Practitioner
To become a PROH practitioner, the following steps need to be taken:
1. Complete the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Training.
All dentist research partners are required to complete the online HIPPA training. It can be found at http://www.ohsu.edu/cc/ed/bb/ . To see the step-by-step instructions click here. The training will take 1-1.5 hours. Please contact us if you do not have Internet access or if you have a dialup modem.
2. Complete the Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) Education.
All dentist research partners and staff members involved in studies are required to complete the online Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) Education. Only modules 1-4, 7 and 8 are needed. Be certain to finish with the Completion Module. The Web site can be found at http://www.ohsu.edu/research/rda//rcr.shtml. To see the step-by-step instructions click here. The training will take approximately 1 hour. Please contact us if you do not have Internet access.
3. Participate in research training provided by PROH.
The December 3, 2004 PROH Conference will suffice. If you were unable to attend, we have DVDs available for your review or you can click here to view them online.
4. Complete the Demographic Survey.
This survey is being used to collect information about dental research partners and their practices. The data will be used to determine areas of interest and to identify appropriate practices for studies. Please print this form, complete it and mail to the address noted at the bottom of this page.
5. Secure a Faculty Appointment.
One of the advantages to dentists of being a PROH research partner is receiving an OHSU faculty appointment. Please send these required documents to the address at the bottom of this page:
- A current Curriculum Vitae
- A copy of your diploma
- A copy of your dental license
- Two letters of recommendation from professional colleagues
6. Participate in studies on a periodic basis.
This includes attending calibration sessions, providing patient care for research, and the routine reporting of results and follow-up.
7. Renewal of "PROH Practitioner" status on a periodic basis as determined by the steering committee.
In keeping with practice-based research standards, we will make a routine inquiry of the Oregon Board of Dentistry to verify your good standing.
