Pharmacy Informatics Specialty
Residency
Program Goal
The goal of the program is to develop residents
who demonstrate excellent problem-solving and project
management skills, achieve competency in information
systems management, clinical decision support, and
automation and technology within a health-care organization.
Residency Program
The residency is a one-year program, commencing
on July 1. The majority of the resident’s
responsibilities and activities will be within the
Drug Utilization Management & Information Services
unit of OHSU. The pharmacy informatics resident
is required to complete a residency project with
subsequent publication.
Areas of experience in pharmacy information will
include, but are not limited to:
• Managing and communicating information in
an interdisciplinary setting
• Development of clinical decision support
tools for frontline end-users
• Management of automation and technology
for medication use systems
• Data driven quality assurance/improvement
projects
• OHSU Pharmacy Web page development and maintenance
• Data warehouse query and analysis
• Staff and train in the Drug Information/Drug
Policy Service
• Medication Safety and Adverse Drug Reaction
tracking, evaluating, and reporting
• Information technology industry experience
