Residency Mission Statement
Pharmacists completing this residency will be competent and confident practitioners of pharmaceutical care in multiple patient care environments and will be able to successfully achieve optimal drug therapy outcomes. Through self-monitoring and initiative, they will be equipped to meet the challenges of current and future pharmacy practice and will be able to manage their own practice efficiently. These pharmacists will be effective educators of other health care professionals, patients, and the community on drug-related topics. Finally, they will demonstrate professional excellence through cultivating a personal philosophy for continued learning and will adapt their practice to meet changes in the health care environment.

Residency Program
OHSU’s Pharmacy Practice Residency is an individualized one-year post-graduate program that provides the resident with a wealth of skills to apply to their future career. OHSU uses the ASHP Residency Learning System model to train its residents which emphasizes a systematic approach to learning that is efficient, effective, and tailored to the resident and the program site. The curriculum is intense and varied to provide the broadest exposure to aspects of pharmacy practice that will be the most important to future practitioners.

The resident must demonstrate competence in the ASHP-mandated core areas of patient care, practice management, and completion of an appropriate project. The resident conducts, completes and presents their major project with substantial guidance from a project preceptor.
