Biography

Nursing is a unique and exciting field. I have been proud to be a part of it for over 35 years. Like so many nurses I started my career in the acute care area with over 10 years in the critical care area. While working in this area I developed a desire to increase my nursing knowledge and care of the geriatric population. Returning to school I obtained a masters in nursing, specializing as an adult and geriatric nurse practitioner. I worked in internal medicine clinics for many years until I specialized in endocrinology both totally around 18 years. I very much enjoyed being a nurse practitioner but in my practice I mentored two nurse practitioner students where I found I also had a love for teaching. In 2010 I joined the faculty at OHSU, developing and strengthening my love for teaching. Although teaching can have its stressful moments I have found it to be very dynamic and rewarding.
