My research interests include palliative care and end-of-life care for adults and older adults, quality improvement in health care, and nursing/professional ethics. In prior studies, I have developed a transitional palliative care program to provide consistent and coordinated care for older adults, looked at the end-of-life decision making process over illness trajectories of older adults, descriptions of quality nursing care for hospitalized patients with advance illness, and ethical practice by nurses in end-of-life care. My current project uses implementation science approach to examine implementation of advance care planning practice in healthcare organizations The goal of my program of research is to improve quality of care for older adults with chronic illness and their families across health care settings.
