Ellen Tilden Ph.D., C.N.M.

Dr. Tilden's birth risks study was recently published in the New England Journal of Medicine, entitled 'Planned Out-of-Hospital Birth and Birth Outcomes.' This study examines the risks and benefits of giving birth inside and outside a hospital setting and has received broad media attention, including the New York Times - Health, The New York Times - The Upshot, The Oregonian, NPR, the L.A. Times, the Washington Post, The Boston Globe and the New York Times Editorial Board as well as generated a NEJM sponsored 10 day online question and answer exchange among study authors and international experts. Dr. Tilden's work is supported by a National Institutes of Health-funded BIRCWH K12 award made possible through the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health &Human Development and the Office of Research on Women's Health (Award Number K12 HD 043488).
