Comprehensive Neurological Rehabilitation Team

At the PCO, we believe comprehensive care is vital to living successfully with Parkinson’s disease. This means that in addition to regular visits with your neurologist for examination and adjustment of medications, you should also regularly see physical, occupational, and speech therapists.

We are fortunate to have a highly energized, innovative neuro rehab team, who have participated in a 5-day, intensive training workshop in Parkinson’s disease offered by the National Parkinson Foundation. Team members are:rehab team at work

  • Cinda Hugos, Physical Therapist
  • Jenny Wilhelm, Physical Therapist
  • Amy Fielder, Occupational Therapist
  • Marvin Smith, Physical Therapist
  • Aimee Mooney, Speech Language Pathologist
  • Linda Bryans, Speech Language Pathologist, certified in LSVT (Lee Silverman Voice Therapy)

Like everything else with PD, how often and whom you should see must be individualized according to your particular set of symptoms and disease progression. Generally, we recommend a team evaluation (PT, OT, and ST) occur after initial diagnosis to establish a baseline, receive valuable education, and to develop personalized programs to stay mobile, flexible, safe, and active. After this, periodic visits every couple of years, with each discipline as needed based on changes in symptoms can be requested by you (don’t wait for the clinician to think of it; ask!) from either your neurologist or primary care physician.
