Histopathology Shared Resource - IMMUNOHISTOCHEMISTRY

The Histopathology Shared Resource has an automated Dako immunostainer with a capacity of 48 slides per run, allowing high throughput staining. Hand staining is also employed. Services provided include:

1. Testing and titering new antibodies, both monoclonal and polyclonal. The latter should be either a purified IgG fraction or affinity-purified. (Straight serum is not suitable for immunostaining).
2. Optimization of staining to enhance detection and reduce background.
3. Epitope retrieval techniques (pre-treatment with heat and/or proteases)
4. Specialized secondary detection reagents
5. Avidin/biotin blocking steps
6. Double- and triple-antibody stains using multiple chromagens.
