GI Stromal Tumor (GIST)
Test Description
Screening for KIT and PDGFRA kinase gene mutations in GI stromal sarcomas (GISTs) is performed using a combination of assays developed by Michael Heinrich, MD, and Christopher Corless, MD, PhD. Detection methods include denaturing HPLC (Transgenomic WAVE™ system), melting curve analyses using FRET-probes, real-time PCR with mutation-specific dual-labeled probes, and DNA sequencing. With over 1,600 GISTs analyzed in our laboratories, we have the experience to provide excellent service in GIST genotyping.
