Laboratory Medicine - Core Laboratory

This section serves as a rapid response laboratory for a wide variety of chemical, hematology, coagulation and toxicology tests as well as body fluid evaluations. Urgent Gram Smears and rapid infectious antigen detection is performed here as well. Approximately 1 million billable tests are performed in this section per year. Many Urgent specimens are sent directly to this section without going to the Central Receiving Section.
