COMPLETION OF THE AUTOPSY     Upon the completion of an autopsy, the prosector will notify the clinical staff of the preliminary diagnoses, unless they have attended the autopsy. In cases of an infectious nature, the prosector is to notify the mortician, the housekeeping service, and if appropriate, the nursing service, to that effect.     The Department of Pathology does not have the responsibility for filling out a death certificate or carrying out procedures or functions otherwise performed by a mortician, such as cremation.
