COMMUNICATION BETWEEN PROSECTOR AND REFERRING PHYSICIAN

The autopsy is a consultative service for the clinician and family members concerned. This is best achieved by direct communication between involved personnel or, if direct communication is impractical, by a written statement from the clinicians of the major clinical concerns. Decisions as to the performance and conduct of the autopsy will at all times be under the direction of the prosector, under the supervision of department staff. The primary attending or house staff should be notified that an autopsy is being commenced.
