Description: The 5-Day Core Training provides health professionals with an in-depth understanding of Tobacco Dependence, as well as the essential science-based treatment tools necessary to help their client’s achieve freedom from tobacco use.

Title: Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota: Tobacco Treatment Specialist Certification
Description: This program is an intensive, five-day course focusing on the skills needed to effectively treat tobacco dependence.
Audience: This training program is designed for health care professionals already providing tobacco dependence treatment and for those with a strong interest in entering the field.

Title: University of Massachusetts Medical School, Center for Tobacco Prevention and Control, Tobacco Treatment Specialist (TTS) Training.
Description: This is an intensive, evidence-based training program. There is a two-day Basic Skills for Working with Smokers course and a five-day Core Certification training course. There are two levels of certification, (1) an entry level certification which requires 240 hours experience in tobacco treatment in the last 5 years for licensed healthcare professionals* (approximately 4 hours/month) OR 480 hours experience in tobacco treatment in the last 5 years for other healthcare professionals (approximately 8 hours/month), and (2) a Master TTS certification for those tobacco treatment providers who have at least 2000 hours documented experience within the last 5 years.
Audience: Designed for persons who deliver moderate to intensive tobacco treatment services within a health care or community setting.
