Casey Eye Institute

Welcome to the Department of Ophthalmology at Oregon Health & Science University, also known as the Casey Eye Institute. Founded in 1945, the OHSU ophthalmology department is one of the oldest in the West. Nationally, OHSU is a top 10 research center with over $10 million per year in external research funding. Residents gain exposure to all generally recognized subspecialties, and learn practice management skills to help them succeed in a modern managed care environment. The residency program includes protected research time.

The clinics at Casey Eye Institute offer comprehensive ophthalmic care for children and adults. Encompassing the ophthalmic subspecialities from glaucoma to uveitis, the Department of Ophthalmology provides electrophysiologic and genetic testing and counseling and serves as regional eye trauma center for the Pacific Northwest. It includes the Casey Vision Correction Center for LASIK and other vision correction procedures and the Facial Aesthetic Surgery Center for rejuvenating procedures. The Elks Children’s Eye Clinic provides general pediatric care as well as strabismus treatment for adults and children.
