Disability and Public Health Course

Our Disability and Public Health course content draws heavily on RRTC: Health & Wellness research findings and its expert panel partners. Topics covered by the course include: epidemiology of disabilities, secondary conditions and their prevention, and effective health promotion strategies. The class uses traditional methods of didactic instruction, practicum experiences, and direct supervision to prepare professionals to understand and support the health and wellness efforts of people with disabilities.

Our goals in this activity are to increase knowledge and awareness of barriers and access strategies to routine health care, evidence-based health promotion programs, and standard health status measurement tools. We also hope to Increase capacity to infuse disability and health awareness into broader disciplines.
