Bradley J. Cardinal, PhD
Bradley J. Cardinal, Ph.D., currently serves as Professor and Co-Director
of the Sport and Exercise Psychology Lab within the Department
of Nutrition and Exercise Sciences, College of Health and Human Sciences
at Oregon State University. Prior to his appointment at Oregon State,
Dr. Cardinal served on the faculties of Wayne
State University and Eastern Washington University. Dr. Cardinal's primary research focus
is on (1) psychosocial and sociocultural issues associated with physical
activity behavior change, promotion, and retention issues, especially
among underserved, minority groups including those with physical
disabilities; and (2) measurement and quantitative research related
to physical activity epidemiology and psychosocial measurement. As
an author/co-author, he has written two books, approximately 90 refereed
journal articles, more than 100 additional articles or book chapters,
and given approximately 170 professional and scholarly presentations.
He currently serves on the Editorial Board of Quest. Formerly he
served as Co-Editor of a Special Issue of the American
Journal of Health Promotion devoted to Physical Activity and the Built Environment
(published March/April, 2007), President of the Research Consortium
of the American Alliance for Health Physical Education, Recreation
and Dance (2005-2006), Associate Editor-In-Chief with the American
Journal of Health Promotion, Psychology Section Editor for Research
Quarterly for Exercise and Sport, Associate Editor for Sports Medicine
Alert, Associate Editor with the Journal of Sport Behavior, and as
Co-Editor-In-Chief of Physical
Activity Today.
