OIDD Programs

ADD CORE/UCEDD

The major goal of this Administration on Developmental Disabilities funded program is to provide administrative support for the Oregon Institute on Disability and Development University Center of Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD).

Center on Community Accessibility (CCA)

CCA hosts a variety of projects and activities that promote health behavior, well-being, community accessibility, and specific legal, political, and institutional factors that shape behavior.   It is a joint effort encompassing the Oregon Office on Disability and Health, Healthy Lifestyles Evaluation Project, and Community Accessibility Project.

Center on Self-Determination (CSD)

The mission of the OHSU Center on Self-determination is to identify, develop, validate andcommunicate policies and practices that promote the self-determination of people with and without disabilities.

Design to Learn (D2L)

Design to Learn strategies and materials address the educational needs of children and adults who have severe disabilities.  We specialize in developing effective assessment and teaching strategies for children and adults with low-incidence disabilities. Our approaches and materials are very practical in nature and are supported by 18 years of research in real life settings. We have conducted extensive research and demonstration projects on the development of communication and cognitive skills in individuals with severe disabilities.

Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (LEND)

The major goal of the LEND program is to promote the health status of children (and their families) with neurodevelopmental and related disabilities by training professionals for leadership roles, collaboration with other agencies, and participation in policy development on health care. The Interdisciplinary Training Program offers graduate and post-graduate training in 15 disciplines and specialty areas that serve persons with disabilities and their families. The training program provides supervised clinical experience and training that satisfies specified internship requirements. We offer a clinical setting in which interdisciplinary teams of interns and clinicians practice a family- and person-centered approach to care, and promotes the development of leadership skills through a core curriculum that imparts knowledge and skills needed for future leadership.

Office of Program Evaluation and Research (OPER)

This unit provides overall coordination, design and implementation of project based evaluation. The primary goal of the Office of Program Evaluation and Research is to enhance evaluation activities for projects and programs within OIDD.

Reclaiming Expressive Knowledge in Elders with Alzheimer's Disease (REKNEW)

The REKNEW projects, conducted in conjunction with the The Layton Center for Aging and Alzheimer's Research within the OHSU Department of Neurology, are researching the use of personalized communication menus incorporating pictures written words, or small objects to help patients to access words.

Rehabilitation Research Training Center on Health & Wellness (RRTC)

The Rehabilitation Research Training Center (RRTC) on Health and Wellness is a RRTC funded by the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR) to conduct research and training to support the health and wellness of persons with long term disabilities. Intended to specifically address the conditions of cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, post-polio syndrome, amputation and spinal cord injury, we believe the web site will be of interest and value to all persons with disabilities, and, in fact, all persons without disabilities as well.
