Implementing PAR Training in Your State/UCEDD/Community:

A PAR Implementation Workshop event is offered to help understand and implement the PAR Toolkit curriculum at an additional cost. It consists of a 2 day, on-site training for the institution or organization implementing the PAR Toolkit workshop. Dean Westwood, an experienced PAR Toolkit trainer will co-lead this intensive training with another individual who also has PAR Toolkit experience. All necessary materials are packaged and provided at the training including the implementation of the workshop, supplemental handouts, planning materials, and the accompanying Power Points. The trainees are provided with information on meaningful strategies for Participatory Action Research and are asked to participate in large and small group discussions and hands-on activities. Furthermore, after each presentation and/or activity the trainers take time to debrief and discuss the information and/or activities with the trainees as well as share additional insights, tips and strategies that they have found to be particularly helpful. This approach to conducting the training has proven to be very successful. It provides the trainees not only with the knowledge of the content of the curriculum, but also a first hand, "experiential feel" for how to actualize Participatory Action Research in your setting.
