Suggestions for Using the Curriculum
The modules can be reviewed in any order, but we do recommend starting with Module 1 since it provides a foundation for the rest of the curriculum. Developing partnerships between UCEDDs and Community Members is a dynamic process. Partnerships may want to use the curriculum as a resource from their inception to help address specific content areas that are identified as an area of need or challenge that the partnership is currently facing.
The curriculum may be used to:
- Orient partners to the history of disability research
- Provide information about the importance of research
- Stimulate conversations around the differences between "Traditional Research" and "PAR"
- Inform about IRB and the Informed Consent process when working with vulnerable populations
- Teach the entire research process from, defining a question, to the dissemination of results
Consider a PAR Implementation Workshop for your State/UCEDD/Community to help understand and implement the PAR Toolkit.
