Michael McCarthy M.S.W.

Michael McCarthyMichael McCarthy graduated from Lewis and Clark College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1996 and finished his Master of Social Work degree at Portland State University in June 2004. He participated as a 2004 Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and related Disabilities (LEND) trainee and has several years' experience working directly with individuals experiencing developmental, cognitive and/or psychiatric disabilities, and substance abuse issues. Mike coordinates the CSDs Accessible Intercity Transportation Project, a Program Evaluation Model Development Project for Easter Seals Project ACTION, and assists in coordinating the development and activities of the OIDDs Community Partners Council. He has presented at national and international conferences including the APHA Annual Meeting and the 2006 International Conference on Aging, Disability, and Independence. In these roles and through these activities, Mike advocates for the principles of self-determination and the direct involvement of people with disabilities in all phases of the research and development process.
