Debra K. Eisert, PhD
Associate Professor, Dept of Pediatrics, OHSU; Associate Professor, College of Education, University of Oregon. She is a child psychologist at the Child Development and Rehabilitation Center in Eugene and a faculty member in the College of Education's Institute on Violence and Destructive Behavior and University Center for Excellence on Developmental Disability. Ph.D., University of Nebraska-Lincoln, 1978, Post-doctoral Fellowship in Pediatric Psychology, Children's Hospital of Michigan (1978-1980). She is a member of the American Psychological Association (sections of pediatric psychology and child clinical psychology and the Society for Research in Child Development. Dr. Eisert joined the OHSU and University of Oregon Faculties in September 1984, and currently has a .5 FTE with CDRC in Eugene. She serves all of the clinics in Eugene, including Child Development, Myelomeningocele, Genetics, Craniofacial Disorders and Cerebral Palsy. Dr. Eisert provides psychological assessment and treatment services to children with handicaps and their families, with a special interest in behavioral therapy and early childhood psychological assessment. She has coordinated CDRC evaluation efforts in Eugene, and currently supervises students in the assessment of children who have handicaps, and teaches psychological concepts to graduate students in special education and psychology. She supervises practicum students and interns in Eugene. Prior to joining this faculty, she worked for four years as the Director of Psychological Services at the Lenox Baker Children's Hospital in Durham, North Carolina, and worked at Duke University Medical Center participating in research on preschool screening.
During her career, she has published in the areas of cognitive and social cognitive development. Since she joined the CDRC faculty, she has been doing research and publishing on topics including the behavior problems of the preschool child, play development, early childhood assessment and qualitative research.
