Jana Peterson, MPH, PhD

Jana Peterson is the Health Disparities Research Coordinator at the Institute for Human Development (UCEDD) at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Her research focuses on community-based health promotion research for individuals of underserved populations, including people with disabilities. She earned a PhD in Community and Behavioral Health (Public Health) as well as a Master of Public Health degree from The University of Iowa. Dr. Peterson also completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Disability and Health at the RRTC on Health and Wellness at the Oregon Institute on Disability and Development, Oregon Health & Science University. Her research interests include health promotion and access to care for people with disabilities, health disparities, social determinants of health, community-based participatory research, and the social ecological model: relationships of social, cultural, and physical environments to health behavior and health outcomes.
