Aimee R. Mooney is a licensed Speech and Language Pathologist with over 19 years of clinical experience specializing in Communication and Cognitive Rehabilitation. Her expertise is in treating patients with Neurological illness/injury (Stroke, Brain Injury, Parkinson's disease, and Parkinsonism), Mild Cognitive Impairment, Dementia and Alzheimer's disease.

Aimee has a strong clinical and organizational leadership background in rehabilitation services. She has held positions ranging from staff therapist to Clinical Management of a multidisciplinary outpatient clinic. She has been involved in research both as the Community Resource Advocate in the NIDRR sponsored Oregon Traumatic Brain injury Model Systems Project as well as the Technical Expert member for the Evidence Report on Rehabilitation of Person’s With Traumatic Brain Injury.

Aimee is a natural and enthusiastic instructor. She speaks frequently around Portland and the entire state of Oregon. She is a member of TeamPD: a group of professionals specializing in the team treatment of patients with Parkinson's Disease, whose mission is to train practitioners in rural areas of the state.
Aimee currently works on a variety of grant funded research projects at OHSU including a study of the effectiveness of AAC for people with dementia and primary progressive aphasia, the development of a brain computer interface to enable independent communication for people with locked-in syndrome, and voice banking for patients with ALS.

From treating patients to advocating for best practices for patients and their families, Aimee has developed a life-long passion for helping adults to maximize recovery from injury or adapt to disease or degenerative illness.
