Here is a link to the Oregon National Primate Research Center’s OLAW assurances What are they? This is a large amount of information gathered for the Office of Laboratory Animal Welfare (OLAW) at the National Institutes of Health. The NIH is the arm of the United States federal government that funds health studies (both human and animal studies). OLAW is an office within the NIH that is charged with ensuring the good treatment of animals. What do they show? As you will read, these documents list the size of buildings where animals live. They list the kinds of animals that live in these spaces and the number of animals. You may be surprised to learn that the Oregon National Primate Research Center is also home to a mice hamsters and frogs for instance. The records also illustrate the staff and processes in place to ensure that animals are treated well.
