OHSU's Sexual Preference Research Involving Sheep

WHAT IT IS

For years, Oregon Health & Science University and Oregon State University researchers have studied a small number of sheep and gained increased understanding of the physiological factors involving partner preference. These are basic science studies, meaning that they are aimed to gaining understanding, nothing more, and nothing less.

WHAT IT IS NOT

The research is not being conducted to develop treatments. These are studies to gain a greater understanding of brain function as it pertains to partner preference in mammals. Unfortunately,  the animal rights group PETA which is opposed to all research in animals including life-saving research, has made false claims that the research is aimed at “curing” homosexuality. The suggestion is false. The information at this Web site will provide factual information about the research and correct false claims made in the past.
