- The 2005 22nd Annual Rural Health Conference Brochure and Registration is now available on the conference page of the web site. Due to prohibitive fees and on-line security issues, we are no longer able to accept credit card payments, however, on-line forms can be printed and mailed or faxed to the Oregon Office of Rural Health. The Agenda and a list of speakers is available as part of the Conference Brochure

- WWAMI Rural Health Research Center has updated its rural-urban commuting areas (RUCA) using the 2000 Census. The new map is available on the What is Rural? page.

- An updated 2005 - 2006 Areas of Unmet Medical Need in Oregon report is now available on the What is Rural? page. Unmet Need designations are determined using five separate variables. This report contains data expressed as a map of Oregon for each Unmet Need variable.

- Unmet Need Data has been updated for 2005 - 2006. Ratios, Scores, and new Unmet Need Oregon Map, as well as a new Loan Re-payment Map based on the '05 - '06 data is now available. A new report detailing the determinations and methodology is available as a document.

Lots of activity is happening at the Oregon Office of Rural Health. Here are links to the latest updates.
- There have been lots of staff changes over the past few months. These changes are reflected on the staff page of the web site.
- Two Oregon Rural Health Clinic Workshops, will held Thursday, September 15 in La Grande and Friday, September 16 in Newport. Registration for these workshops is on-line, however you will need to print and fax or mail the registration form.
- Opportunities are available for conference attendees to speak at the conference. Hot Topics – The Cliff Notes® Version is a Friday, November 4th session allowing conference participants to speak on subjects which they have some experience or expertise in. All potential attendant speakers must submit their topic session by September 2, 2005 to ORH. See the conference page for more details.
- The latest ORH newsletter is available on-line.

- The deadline to nominate a practitioner, staff member, practice or program for an Oregon Rural Health Conference Award is Wednesday, August 31, 2005. Awardees will be determined by the Rural Health Coordinating Council and winners and their nominators will be notified by telephone or email no later than September 30, 2005.

- New maps of the uninsured in Oregon have been added to the resources page.
- A flyer for the next Rural Health Town Hall Meeting has been added to the index page. Comments about any of the Town Hall Meetings may be submitted on-line from the comment form.

- An updated map of the Rural Health Clinics in Oregon has been added to the rural clinic page.

- An updated Flex Program newsletter has been added to the Flex page.

- Information and pre-registration about the Rural Health Town Hall Meeting taking place on June 16, 2005 is now available. Flyers are available for distribution.
- The list of hospitals eligible for the tax credit has been updated and is available for physicians and optometrists, there are no changes for dentists.

- Nomination Guidelines, and Award classifications and criteria for the 2005 ORHCAs is now on its own page. The Oregon Rural Health Conference Awards (ORHCAs) honor outstanding commitments to improving the quality and availability of rural health care and are presented at the Annual Oregon Rural Health Conference.

- Information about the Oregon Critical Access Hospital Quality Improvement Network has been added to the Flex Page. A calendar of events for the QI network is also available in pdf format.

- A new link has been added to the EMS Information page. The Oregon Volunteer Firefighters Association serves, promotes and protect the interests of Oregon's Fire and EMS providers. Their web page is at www.ovfa.org.
- Information on, and applications for, Exhibiting or Sponsoring the 22nd Annual Oregon Rural Health Conference are now available on the conference page. The Exhibit Application link contains forms for both for-profit and non-profit exhibitors.
