Federal Rural Health Grantwriting Workshop

The Federal Office of Rural Health Policy is interested in providing technical assistance on applying for federal grants. The goal of this collaboration is to empower communities to take full advantage of available funding opportunities and to learn effective ways to write a successful grant application.

If you would like to register for the California State Rural Health Association Conference, you can fill out a registration form at http://sslws037.alentus.com/csrha/conreg2009.aspx. There is a registration fee to attend the entire conference. However, if you would like to attend the HRSA Grants Technical Assistance Workshop only, there is no registration fee. To register for the HRSA Grants Technical Assistance Workshop only, please contact Shannon Means at (916) 453-0780 or smeans@csrha.org and indicate that you would like to be registered for the HRSA Grants Technical Assistance Workshop only.

This workshop will feature:

  • Information on ORHP community based funding opportunities
  • Grantwriting tips to help you succeed
  • Encouragement and support in applying for federal grants
  • An interactive activity to help you understand how your application will be reviewed

Target Audience:

The majority of ORHP’s community based grant programs are targeted towards non-profit organizations or public entities located in rural areas. For-profit organizations are welcome to attend and potentially collaborate with other organizations, but cannot be the lead applicant on a project. Listed below are organizations strongly encouraged to attend:

  • Non-profit organizations or public entities located in a rural county or census tract (http://datawarehouse.hrsa.gov/RuralAdvisor/)
  • Federally-recognized Tribal organizations
  • Migrant health organizations
  • Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs)
