Publications

The Office provides information about rural health to health care providers, legislators and government officials, educators, and members of the public. The following publications are available from the Oregon Office of Rural Health. The Oregon Office of Rural Health has a 6 page demographic, socioeconomic, and health status profile for each of the 104 rural service areas shown on our Unmet Healthcare Need map.  This information is updated continuously.  Here is a sample (for Lakeview, OR) in Adobe Acrobat format.  If you would like to have a free profile sent to you, please contact Emerson Ong at (503) 494-5226, or at onge@ohsu.edu. For those who require the entire set of 104 six-page rural service area profiles, a $200 fee will be charged to offset data and labor costs.

The Area Health Education Centers Program has an education module on Chronic Pain Management. A clinician's Handbook, Forms and Contracts for clinicians, and Web Resources are available.  The goal of the handbook is to assist clinicians in managing adult patients with chronic non-malignant pain. This information is based on current consensus guidelines, expert opinion and studies when available. Despite an obvious need, the medical literature does not yet contain the high quality randomized controlled trials required to establish evidenced-based clinical standards for the management of chronic non-malignant pain.
