OHSU, NW Down Syndrome Association Unveil Disability Awareness Project
 
WHAT: Media are invited to attend the debut of the Northwest Down Syndrome Association’s “All Born ‘In’” Disability Awareness Project, co-sponsored by Oregon Health & Science University. The project addresses the need to increase acceptance and impact attitudes regarding and affecting individuals with disabilities.

Tonight the “All Born ‘In’” traveling photo exhibit will be unveiled. It features 14 thought-provoking images celebrating diversity and disability. The young people depicted in the photos will be on hand to discuss the images. Following the debut, the exhibit will be displayed in prominent public places around the Portland Metro area.

Some 200 community and civic leaders, health and education professionals, government representatives, families and friends of children with Down Syndrome are expected to attend.

Speakers will include: State Rep. Sara Gelser; self-advocate Eleanor Bailey; Northwest Down Syndrome Association’s President Steven Holland; and OHSU’s President. Joe Robertson, M.D., M.B.A.

Co-sponsors of the event include Portland State University; Hanna Andersson; The Campbell Group, LLC; Multnomah Education Service District; and TigerStop.
