Oregon Man and Woman of the Year
Top Fundraisers in Local Competition Raise Over $165,000
Lee Jackson of Guardian Life Insurance and Sarah Friend of The ODS Companies have been named the The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Oregon Chapter 2005 Man & Woman of the Year. Jackson and Friend won the titles based on their ability to raise over $63,000 and $11,000, respectively, over an eight-week period. The pair raised more money than any of the other male or female participants in this year's competition. Every dollar raised counted as one vote. Winners were announced on June 23, 2005 at a Grand Finale Celebration at the Lawrence Gallery. The winners will be showcased in the Portland Business Journal in August and on billboards around the Portland metro area in October. Proceeds from the event will be used to fund research for leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma, and provide information and services for patients and their families.
The runner-up Man of the Year was Craig Nichols, M.D. from the Oregon Health & Science University and the runner-up Woman of the Year was Pamela Clark, professional surfer and survivor.
The Oregon Chapter thanks all candidates for their incredible efforts.
