Biography/Summary
Dr. Kim-Hien Dao received her post-doctoral internal medicine training at Scripps Mercy Hospital (San Diego, California) and hematology-oncology fellowship training at University of California San Diego. During her fellowship she was awarded a Clinical Scholar Fellowship for 2 years from the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine. Her faculty mentor was Dr. Catriona Jamieson. Dr. Dao started her position as an assistant professor in the Division of Hematology-Oncology, Center for Hematologic Malignancies at OHSU in the fall of 2009. She is a member of the OHSU Knight Cancer Institute. Her clinical specialty is focused on myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) and MDS transformed into acute myelogenous leukemia. She is a co-investigator in multiple clinical trials and hopes to initiate Phase I/II clinical trials in patients with high-risk MDS. She spends a significant portion of her day in the laboratory, studying the signaling pathways that regulate the cellular characteristics that define the leukemia-initiating cells in hematologic malignancies.
