Dr. Alumkal's research interest is cancer epigenetics, the study of heritable and potentially reversible gene silencing events in cancer. His work focuses on the identification of better diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers and therapeutic agents, which might lead to gene re-expression, in prostate cancer.
