4 geese on shore

On March 3rd, OHSU  began upgrading to Microsoft Office 2007. Since the email migration is a big move all by itself, we're migrating to Office 2007 in two steps: First we'll install the Big Four – Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint – along with a set of bonus applications, and then we'll install the email application, Outlook 2007. If you use a PC, this upgrade will put the latest tools at your fingertips. Office 2007  includes the following applications:

Standard Applications

Bonus Applications

  • Access (depends on install option selected)

  • Excel

  • PowerPoint

  • Word

  • Groove

  • InfoPath

  • OneNote

  • Publisher

  • Visio Viewer - Not licensed for full Visio program

OHSU employees receive 20% off on training for bonus applications. First, find the class you want to take, and then contact Don McEwing (503-641-2610) to register.

Compatibility with Office 2003

The Office 2007 compatibility pack allows you to edit and save Office 2007 documents on computers with earlier versions of Microsoft Office installed. OHSU computers have the compatibility pack installed already. If you need it for non-OHSU machines, you can download it from Microsoft's compatibility pack page. The OHSU migration forum has some helpful articles.

Online interactive guides

Most of the features you're familiar with are still there, but they may have been moved. Use this innovative tool from Microsoft to find out where known features have been moved to. This tends to be the biggest sticking point for advanced users of Office applications.

Note: These interactive guides are also available on the Get Started tab installed on OHSU's deployed Office 2007 suite.
