Network Migration
When the migration occurs, will our computers run slower?
If the computer meets the minimum speed and memory requirements for Office 2007, there should be no effect: Windows XP, 1.6 GHz processor, 1 GB of RAM, and at least a 13 GB hard drive.
What differences will I see once we've migrated to an all-Microsoft network?
Your network login will be a Microsoft login, not a Novell login.
What are the benefits to migrating to an all-Microsoft network?
OHSU will have more compatibility with other organizations, and since there's a larger user base for Microsoft products, we'll have better integration with third-party products and more support for both users and network administrators.
Does this migration mean the print servers work faster?
The migration will not affect print servers.
Is this migration going to have any effect on VPN access?
No.
Will WTS (Remote Access) include Outlook?
This is not yet determined.
My workstation is running Windows 2000 Professional, will this affect my ability to migrate?
Yes, your departments network contact should fill out at CAPS request and check the "consult" box. A field technical representative will advise you from there.
Will SharePoint collaboration tools be available?
We are exploring this option; but most likely this is a future project and is currently out of the scope of the migration.
