McAfee VirusScan

McAfee VirusScan is part of the standard build on OHSU Windows 2000 & XP workstations, and the workstations are automatically updated with McAfee virus definitions on a weekly basis. In order for a machine to receive the automatic update, it must be restarted and someone must log into Novell Network every weekday. If the workstation is not restarted and logged into on the morning that it is scheduled to receive the update, the workstation will not receive the most current virus definitions, and will not receive an update until the following week.

Never open anything LINKED OR ATTACHED to an email from someone you don't know. This is a good habit to get into because the viruses that are going around will not only infect your workstation, but will also affect other workstations on the OHSU network.

You may notice messages that come to you that state the following:

------------------Virus Warning Message------------------

No action is required on your part; the system deleted the virus and you can safely open the email.
