OHSU Named Most Admired Health Care Company in Oregon

OHSU got jumbo-sized air-time in New York City's Times Square for being named Oregon's most admired health care company (again) by the Portland Business Journal. This is the third year in a row that OHSU has earned this distinction.

Companies are chosen by business leaders around the state. The group named Doernbecher Children’s Hospital (Also an OHSU entity) as the second most admired in the health care field. The category includes both hospitals and insurers.

"Save 5 Million Lives" Campaign at OHSU

"Some is not a number. Soon is not a time."

You can join the national campaign to save 5 million lives when you become an OHSU Registered Nurse.

OHSU Hospitals & Clinics has enrolled in the Institute for Healthcare Improvement "Save 5 Million Lives" Campaign. The Campaign objective is to save 5 million lives through the introduction of six proven health care improvement interventions over 18 months (and every year thereafter) in a minimum of 1,600 hospitals.

These six proven IHI health care improvement initiatives have been shown to prevent avoidable deaths. They include:

  1. Deploy Rapid Response Teams... 
    at the first sign of patient decline
  2. Deliver Reliable, Evidence-Based Care for
    Acute Myocardial Infarction 
    ..
    to prevent deaths from heart attack
  3. Prevent Adverse Drug Events...
    by implementing medication reconciliation
  4. Prevent Central Line Infections...
    by implementing a series of interdependent,
    scientifically grounded steps
  5. Prevent Surgical Site Infections...
    by reliably delivering the correct perioperative
    antibiotics at the proper time
  6. Prevent Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia...
    by implementing a series of interdependent,
    scientifically grounded steps
