The Division of Urology at the Oregon Health & Science University participates in the American Urological Association Office of Education's Residency Matching Program. Applications are processed through the American Association of Medical Colleges Electronic Residency Application Service. No paper applications will be accepted. Only complete applications submitted through the ERAS system by October 1 will be reviewed for positions beginning at the PGY-1 level the following academic year. Please contact your dean's office for further information regarding the electronic application process.
The committee will review applications and determine which applicants will be interviewed. Interviews occur on selected Thursdays in November and December. If you are invited to interview, you will be contacted by e-mail. During your interview you will meet with the urology faculty and current residents, and tour the campus. It is not necessary to provide a return postcard or to call to check the status of your application: the ERAS system will notify you as we download your dossier into our files. A completed application consists of seven elements:
- an ERAS application
- a personal photograph
- a curriculum vitae
- a personal statement
- a Dean's letter and medical school transcript
- three letters of recommendation
- Official USMLE scores, Part I or National Board scores, Part I
If you have had previous postgraduate training, please send letters of recommendation from the program director(s) of your first postgraduate year program and any subsequent residency training.
Graduates of foreign medical schools who are applying for residency must have a valid ECFMG certificate. Those who are not U.S. citizens must be able to meet the current requirements for a United States visa and must have a valid J-1 or H-1 visa before entering the program.
