The Fellowship Training Program in Hand Surgery at Oregon Health & Science University is a twelve month, fully accredited fellowship allowing examination for the Certificate of Added Qualifications in Surgery of the Hand. It is reserved for fully trained surgeons who are board eligible or certified in general surgery, orthopaedic surgery, or plastic surgery. One fellow is accepted per year through the National Resident Matching Program.
The hospitals participating in the program include University Hospitals and Doernbecher Children's Hospital at OHSU, Shriner's Hospital for Children, and the Portland Veterans Affairs Medical Center. This integration maximizes patient exposure and promotes a broad and varied surgical experience. Both the VAMC and Shriner's are physically connected to the University Hospitals allowing easy access to all participating hospitals in one location. The fellowship program is organized under the auspices of the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at OHSU, while hand surgery training is provided by both the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery.
