Most training is committed to patient care, teaching, and systematic study of the surgical disciplines. While research is encouraged, realistically there is little free time to participate in basic science research. However, Pediatric Surgery residents will have ample opportunities to participate in clinical research projects and may at times be asked to supervise medical students or residents involved in clinical research.
