Two OHSU medical physics faculty selected to serve on AAPM Therapy Physics Committee Task Groups

Dr. Richard Crilly (COS) and Ms. Susha Pallai have been selected to serve on AAPM Task Groups 148 and 182, respectively.  Task Group No. 148, AAPM Recommendations on QA for Helical Tomotherapy, was charged to: a) to discuss quality assurance techniques, frequencies, and tolerances and b) discuss dosimetric verification techniques applicable to this unit. Task Group No. 182 AAPM Recommendations on Electronic Brachytherapy Quality Management, is charged with reviewing  the manufacturers suggested QA process for treatment devices, hardware, and software; develop a rational, risk-based set of QM (quality management) procedures, both for the treatment units and for patient treatment plans, including techniques, frequencies and tolerances; as well as suggest designs for needed tools in clinical radiotherapy that do not yet exist.
