Jessica is from Clover, South Carolina and is a currently a Physics student at South Carolina State University majoring in Physics with a Medical Option. She is a member of the Society of Physics Students, Sigma Pi Sigma Honors Society clubs, and Honors Program. 
Jessica is the recipient of the following scholarships:

Summer 2007:
Jessica did a research internship at Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana as a part of HBCU-UP Strengthening Minorities Access to Research and Training (SMART). Her research there was 3, 3’, 3’’- Nitrilotriproprionic Acid (NTP) and Characterized by Utilizing the Methods of ‘H and 13C NMR, Elemental Analysis, FT-IR, and Differential Scanning Calorimetry Analysis under the direction of mentors Drs. Edwin Walker and Scott Wicker.

Summer 2008:
Jessica was selected for a research internship in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Wake Forrest University School of Medicine, Winston-Salem, NC. She worked with Charles M. Able, MS, on “Linear Accelerator Quality Assurance Using Clinical Treatment Delivery”. In addition to her research, Jessica was afforded the opportunity to shadow within the department.
