Academic Radiation Oncology Physicist


Position: Radiation Oncology Physicist
Rank: Commensurate with academic record
Location: Oregon Health & Science University, Portland, Oregon

Position Description:
One clinical medical physicists will be added to our expanding team of currently 6 physicists and 5 dosimetrists. The physicist will play a significant role in management and performance of clinical physics duties, and will participate in clinically directed physics research and educational activities in concert with departmental goals and personal abilities/interests.

Facility and Equipment:
The Department of Radiation Medicine provides medical physics services to OHSU and its two off-campus sites. The main Marquam Hill campus department opened a new 17,000 sq. ft. facility in June 2007 which has 4 vaults, 2 of which are equipped with Varian Trilogy linear accelerators with OBI, RPM, ultrasound and optical image-guidance. Additional technology includes Calypso, mobile cone-beam CT, and a robotic tabletop. The department also features a HDR suite equipped with a Varian Acuity CBCT, a 16 slice Philips simulator with 4DCT capability, and a TOF CT-PET. A third dedicated stereotactic linear accelerator has been commissioned for clinical service since early in 2008. One of the two satellites is equipped with a new Elekta Synergy linac. Treatment modalities include 3D-CRT, IMRT, IGRT, SRS, SBRT, LDR, HDR, TBI, TSE. RT planning systems include Eclipse, Pinnacle-3, Corvus, BrachyVision, Variseed, Vision RT, and BrainLab.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • MS or PhD in medical physics or closely related field.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of clinical experience in radiation therapy.
  • Strong clinical background and ABR or ABMP certification are required.
