
Tracy Bumsted, M.D., M.P.H.
Course Director for Pediatrics 1
Dr. Bumsted is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and the Clerkship Director for Pediatrics 1, the five-week required core clerkship during the third year of medical school. Her responsibilities include leading the half-day orientation the first day of the clerkship and giving the first four lectures in the Core Lecture Series, development and oversight of this series throughout the clerkship, final student evaluation and an assessment of professionalism for each student in the course.
Her clinical role within the Department of Pediatrics is as a pediatric hospitalist where she attends on the inpatient pediatric ward as well as in the Mother Baby Unit. As an attending, she supervises third and fourth year medical students, pediatric and family medicine interns and pediatric senior residents. She is a faculty mentor to students and pediatric residents and is a faculty advisor for the MedNet Careers in Medicine Program in the School of Medicine.
She is also a member of the Principles of Clinical Medicine Task Force. Her educational interests include developing educational strategies and curriculum that maximize the acquisition of clinical decision-making skills and using performance outcomes to drive learning.
