Medical Student Training Clerkships

Our goals is to educate medical students about the unique physiology, pathophysiology, social, and health care needs of children and their families. The Department of Pediatrics hopes this will be an enjoyable and educationally valuable experience for all students. Stacy Nicholson, M.D., M.P.H.

Dr. Nicholson earned his degree in mathematics from Furman University, in medicine from the Medical College of Georgia, and in Public Health from George Washington University. Following medical school, he trained in pediatrics and pediatric hematology/oncology at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC.

He also pursued additional training in cancer epidemiology at the National Cancer Institute’s Genetic Epidemiology Branch. Dr. Nicholson was a tenured associate professor of pediatrics at George Washington University with joint appointments at the Children’s National Medical Center and the National Cancer Institute before coming to OHSU in 1997 to found the Pediatric Neuro-Oncology Program.

Since coming to OHSU, Dr. Nicholson has been Program Leader for Cancer Prevention and Control for the OHSU Cancer Institute, and he served as Chief of the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology/Stem Cell Transplantation from 2004 until 2005. Dr Nicholson has been Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics since November, 2005.
