MSTC Pediatrics 2

Pediatrics 2 should build on and expand the knowledge and skills that were acquired in the third year. The major shift in emphasis will be to the outpatient setting, with its undiagnosed problems, quicker pace, common and mild problems and emphasis on prevention and well-child care. The rotation has been designed to have several options in order to fit the individual career goals and objectives of each student.

Pediatrics 2 Poison Control Requirement

Each of you will be need to spend some time at the Oregon Poison Control Center. You will spend a two hour shift listening in on calls and learning about the Oregon Poison Control Center.

For those of you off campus, Eugene students for instance, this requirement can be fulfilled at any other available time during any rotation.

This is a valuable learning opportunity and is required for all Pediatrics 2 students.

If you have already or will spend time in the Oregon Poison Control Center as part of some other rotation, Emergency Medicine or Toxicology for instance, please indicate that on the form. Your requirement will be considered fulfilled. There is no need to do this twice.

Scheduling:

Each of you will be asked to sign up for as shift using the form at the bottom of this page. You will need to coordinate your shift with one other Pediatrics 2 student who needs to complete the requirement.

The Pediatrics department will not help you find a partner, you will need to find to find one yourself.

Shifts are 7 days a week. Choose from 9 am to 11 am, 1pm to 3 pm, or 530 pm to 730pm.

Please be sure to show up for your assigned shift. The Center has graciously allowed our students to participate, we don’t want to disappoint them by not showing up for assigned shifts.
