1. Clinical evaluation: Students will receive a clinical evaluation done by primary preceptor or designee.
2. Project: Each student should do some type of “project” that is be agreed upon by the service and the student. Such a project could be a case report paper, a review paper, a presentation to a group, an advocacy project, and educational project (ie, educational poster to be used by the service for patients or caregivers). Each rotation should decide which types of projects would be appropriate for their students and guide them accordingly. The projects should be evaluated by the preceptor using the project evaluation area of the verinform evaluation form.
Students will need to submit information about their project to Trevor Monteith, monteith@ohsu.edu , MC: CDRCP as outlined below by the end of the rotation.
-
a. Paper—send an electronic copy or hand in a hard copy.
-
b. Talk—send copy of the powerpoint or a presentation summary.
-
c. Other types of projects-a summary of the project.
3. CLIPP: Each student is required to complete 6 CLIPP cases.
4. Poison Control: Each student is required to spend two hours at the Oregon Poison Control Center. This requirement may be fulfilled if students spend time in the OPCC as part of another rotation. Please click the link to get information on the center and scheduling. There is a form to fill out for those who have completed the requirement in another rotation and those that need to schedule time at the center. Pediatric 2 Poison Control Requirement
5. End of Clerkship Meeting: Each student is required to attend an end of rotation meeting.
-
Debrief: Students will be given an opportunity to give feedback about their rotation experience.
-
Project Presentation: Each student will be required to give a brief ten minute presentation about their project to the course director and the other students. This is meant to give the group a summary of the content of the project as well as the rationale behind the project. There won't be time for a powerpoint presentation, so please be ready with only verbal comments and paper materials. Students will not need to get too in-depth. For instance, if the student made a presentation to their clinical team, a summary of the presentation and powerpoint handouts would be ideal. Recreating the presentation in its entirety would not be necessary.
-
Return Text Books: Students will need to return their Bright Futures and Oski's Essential Pediatrics text books at the meeting.
