MSTC Elective Rotations

Our goals are to educate medical students about the unique physiology, pathophysiology, social, and health care needs of children and their families. The Department of Pediatrics hopes this will be an enjoyable and educationally valuable experience for all students. We value your experiences and evaluation and feedback is used on an ongoing basis to improve our clerkships.

The PICU elective will allow students to perform at a subintern level. The elective includes PICU procedures, direct supervision, as well as a full lecture schedule and topics of interest. In-house call is required. This course fulfills the fourth year sub internship requirement for OHSU Students.

Instructions for reporting to the rotation on the first day:

 

OHSU students

 

Report to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit  (PICU) at 7:30 am on the first day of the elective. It is located under the Sunflower Icon on the 8th Floor of Doernbecher Children’s Hospital (DCH).

 

Visiting students

 

After your complete orientation and get your ID badte report to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, Doernbecher Children’s Hospital (DCH) 8th floor under the Sunflower icon and find the PICU attending or resident.

 

Please realize that you will need to be excused from your rotation to attend required computer training during your first few days on the rotation.
