Cerebrovascular Disorders

The Oregon Stroke Center at OHSU offers a full range of services including innovative therapies for stroke and aneurysm. The center offers a 24/7 rapid response team to the Emergency Department for acute stroke, and works in collaboration with neurosurgery, interventional neuroradiology and vascular surgery. Surgical and interventional therapies include carotid stenting, aneurysm coiling, clot retrievals, intra-arterial thrombolysis and by-pass surgery. Risk evaluations and innovative stroke prevention treatments are also available for patients who may be at increased risk for stroke.

Interventional neuroradiology is an exciting, minimally invasive approach in the treatment of diseases of the brain and spine. Conditions in the past that would have required surgical intervention such as aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations, and tumors of the brain, spine, head and neck can be considered for treatment by using an endovascular approach to reach the lesion. Interventional neuroradiologic techniques such as thrombolysis are also useful in the management of patients with acute ischemic stroke. These endovascular procedures can allow treatment of previously untreatable or difficult lesions.

Our team of Interventional neuroradiologists and neurosurgeons are available for consultation 24 hours a day. We have a weekly cerebrovascular conference to review radiographic studies and clinical information on cases referred to the center for discussion of treatment options.
